Tommy Doyle, Lee County Supervisor of Elections Affair and Potential Coverup

Tommy Doyle, Lee County Supervisor of Elections, & candidate for a third term, engaged in an illicit relationship with a workplace subordinate from 2018-2020. Tommy Doyle confirmed the accuracy of the allegations, per Jacob Ogles’ of Florida Politics article [https://floridapolitics.com/archives/690435-lee-supervisor-of-elections-tommy-doyle-confirms-affair-with-former-employee/]

According to multiple records & gate access documents, this relationship, spanning nearly two years, transpired exclusively during business working hours, from 2018 to 2020. (while Doyle was 66-68 years old)

Unfortunately, WINK News completely sidestepped (or missed) the issue of any potential misappropriation of County Taxpayer funds.

An EEOC Sexual Harassment complaint was filed against the Lee County Supervisor of Elections. It was subsequently withdrawn when Tommy Doyle begged me to take the settlement.  A 20-week ‘severance pay’ settlement package (in 20 specific ‘paychecks’) raises many concerns regarding the concealment of misconduct by Tommy Doyle, apparently acting as his own negotiator in this settlement for his transgressions?!

This ‘severance package’ apparently excluded a Non-Disclosure Agreement, an unusual omission, and its structure may have been intended to conceal its payments from the Lee County Commissioners or County Auditor-Comptroller (or any public official looking for large transactions when examining ‘public’ financial payment records).

Many questions remain:

  • Were taxpayer funds misappropriated?
  • How much was funded by Lee County taxpayers?
  • Is this the only agreement of this type?
  • Were both parties being paid by taxpayers during their ‘liaisons’?
  • Is this the only affair/misconduct?
  • Are there more victims that have not yet come forward?
  • If so, were they also paid off with concealed settlements?
  • How many laws were broken?

As a candidate and taxpayer in Lee County, I request an immediate FDLE investigation into the activities of Lee’s Supervisor of Elections & forensic audit of all financial records since 2016.

All further questions on this matter should be directed to Mr. Doyle, [tdoyle@lee.vote] his counsel, [unknown] Lee Supervisor of Elections office, [www.lee.vote] his campaign manager Terry Miller, [865-712-0733] and Secretary of State Cord Byrd [850-245-6500]
